Pimpy Panda

Runter vom Baum – PIMPY PANDAs erstes Album
Bamboolicious

Vom energiegeladenen, feinste Soli zelebrierenden »Freak out« bis hin zum Gänsehaut-Song »What You Do« feiert PIMPY PANDA das pralle Leben in allen musikalischen Facetten ‒ mal sanft, mal exzessiv, in jedem Fall aber voller Leidenschaft.

»This PIMPY PANDA band is stone cold phonky! (…) It has been cool to see these young cats develop & mature through the years. I‘m proud to call them friends & colleagues.«
Philip Lassiter – Prince, Snarky Puppy, Roberta Flack, et al.

»My first reaction ›WOW!‹ PIMPY PANDA’s music has ingredients of progressive funk, R&B, and jazz. Music with taste and intelligence. It takes something special to excite me and PIMPY PANDA does.«
Gary Winters – Lenny Kravitz, Aretha Franklin, Fred Wesley, et al.

»Music as it comes from our heart into your ears, infiltrating mind, legs and booty. No limits and restrictions. Bubbling, celebrating, pimped! Pandastic, supersonic, bamboolicious! Black and white with a magic, purple glue«

Daniel Hopf

Get Them Down From the Tree - PIMPY PANDA's Debut Album:
BAMBOOLICIOUS

When PIMPY PANDA get started, there's a helluva lot of groovin' going on in the bamboo forest. With an electrifying mix of funk, neo- soul, jazz and gospel, the band blow their audience from their club stools. Now their first album shows that PIMPY PANDA are not only a terrific live band but also deliver in the studio.

»Bamboolicious... Buttshakin’ ... Badass ... FUNK!«

The nine self-penned tracks are nothing short of extravagant, thrilling, and heart-warming. Arrangements such as "No More Stupid" with its drunken groove have as yet been unheard of on the German scene. Music that's down to earth and emotional. Covering the range from the energetic rollercoaster ride of "Freak Out" with its frenzied soloing to the tearjerker "What You Do", PIMPY PANDA celebrate life to the full - and in all its musical guises: sometimes tender, sometimes excessive, but always full of passion.

That the band have released a full-length set no more than a year into their life is due to the productive mix of talent, zest and creativity that the band concocted in 2015. The ten musicians, hailing from, among other places, New York, Riga and Cologne, combine artistic professionalism with a boundless energy and lust for performing.

Band members - all hopelessly pimpified - include founder Daniel Hopf, hammond prodigy Simon Oslender (WDR Big Band, Max Mutzke), Nico Gomez (The Voice of Germany) and vocal powerhouse Tina Sona. New York singer (and minister's daughter) Alana Alexander, whose impressive soul voice has already filled the Apollo Theater in Harlem, gets the spotlight in " Hang On, It'll Be Alright" and betrays her Bronx gospel roots as well as the jazz credentials she earned at the Manhattan School of Music. On the other hand, lead singer Lotti Epp, who has toured with R Kelly, shines in songs like "Go Your Way" - and proves that PIMPY PANDA have funk in their feet and soul in their hearts.
